Learned to do basic animation with Adobe After Effects.

We coordinate among adobe software to produce 2D animation.

First of all I traced out shapes with Adobe Illustrator.
File > New > Profile : Video and Film > Size : HDTV 1080

After traced the shape in Adobe Illustrator
I Import the AI File into Adobe After Effects
Composition - New Composition

Switch on time-Vary Stop watch to adjust the position, scale, rotation.

Rotoscope

We learnt to turn an video into 2d animation by using Photoshop.

So we do step by step

In preset ''Film and Video'' with '' Size ''HDTV 1080/29.97''

Open the ''Timeline'' through ''Window''

I create the timeline to import my video to be rotoscoped

I set the timeline frame rate to 15 frame per second

which mean I need to draw 15 frame per second to produce my animation

I choose a Flower Blooming time lapse video as my practice.

I import the video and open a ''new blank video layer'' through ''Layers'' to draw my Rotoscope.

So I have 2 blank video layers. Separate with outline, colour fill.

I finished it frame by frame using Wacom tablet.

Masking

In this task I learned how to animated a word or images in different ways by masking. I done my masking task by using Pen tool and stroke effects.

Firstly I import background and image into my composition. After that I type '' JUST DO IT'' by using Text tool. Then I used pen tool to trace the path in writing pattern. The tracing method shall be done in the masked word layer. Draw a path using the shape tools or Pen tool. Drawing a mask path is similar to drawing a shape path.

I traced the path follow the words.

I also do it to the ''NIKE'' image. I traced it to produce a erasing pattern on it.

Next, I proceed to masking step.
I drag the ''stroke'' effect from ''Effect & Presets'' to the layer I want to mask.
I drag into layer ''JUST DO IT'' and also ''NIKE'' image.

Make sure tick ''all masks'' and ''Stroke Sequentially''. Adjust the brush size to fully cover the word.
On the Paint style : switch to '' On original image''.

Motion Graphic

I created this motion graphic with same method I used on Basic Animation Principle.

I used different layers and shapes traced from Illustrator

Switch and try between layers position , scales and opacity effects to produce a simple motion graphic on my own. I used a ''HBO'' logo in end of this video.

My concept of channel id is about Cartoon Network.

So I search for some png images about cartoon.

I import the images to Ae and start editing.

I used mirror effect and masking effect in my Channel ID.

For the powerpuff girls

I put the anchor point at below of png images ,

coordinate with scales to make it appear from far to front.

Next is Logo.

I put it into 3D to rotate in X , Y and Z axis

I put flares on the logo.

Parallax Effect

In this task we learned how to do parallax effect on certain images. I choose some wildlife image to finish my task.

Firstly I used Photoshop to separate my object with background before proceed to After Effects.

Photoshop - Duplicate Layer - Layer 1 for Object - Layer 2 for Background

Cut out object by using Polygonal Lasso Tool

Selection Tool - Select Project

Go to Duplicated Layer - (Select - Inverse)

Background Layer object been deleted

Draw a box using Rectangular Marquee Tool > Edir > Fill > Content Aware

or use stamp tool

press alt to copy layer or colour and stamp on empty area.

The Images I choose after cut out the object I want with ''Polygonal Lasso Tool''

I have duplicated my Images, one for my object and one for background

After cut out the object I select it with ''Selection Tool''

''Select - Inverse'' to delete the object part of background layer

I filled the background by using ''Content Aware'' and ''Stamp Tool''

Next I import to After Effects to do some animation.

After import the files of Photoshop in composition.

I use Puppet Pin Tool

Click it and pin the puppet points on the object I want to adjust with

Click on the pin to move it.

I also use ''Transform Tool'' to adjust among layers to make it more smooth and realistic.

Final Outcome

Rotobrush
Mainly used to separate an object or an actor from a original background or foreground.
When you’ve created a matte that isolates an object, you can replace the background, selectively apply effects to the foreground, and much more.

Import a video file

I chose the best resolution for better rotobrush process
I trim out the part i want
alt+ [ to trim start

Double click the timeline to start roto-brushing.

Roughly draw around the object I want, touch up frame by frame.

I import some pub background for it. I replaced the background.

Motion Tracking
In this task I learnt how to do motion tracking , track the movement something or someone.
which mean I will track the movement of an object and then apply the tracking data for that movement to another object.
object tracked : bicycle
another object : Circle

First of all I trace out a circle on a new composition.
Then, create other new composition to trim the part of video for motion tracking.
Bring in the traced circle.

Go to Window - Tracker -
Track Motion - I locked the track around the bicycle
Click (edit target) the circle
After tracked, (apply) the tacked motion to the circle

After Analyze will have a tracked path.

Apply the motion to the circle (Comp 1)

Apply to circle (Comp 1)

Final Assignment : 2D animation

For this final assignment, we completed it in by group. Our group took the funny story of a bird bang onto a billboard.

Story line : A bird flying into a forest freely and suddenly hit on something, after zoom out the scene of forest was actually a big billboard and its night.
